Radio FM+, along with Radio Fresh! and Star FM, add additional strong brands and advertising platforms to Emmis' growing presence in Central and Eastern Europe.
Radio FM+ has received many honors and distinctions over the years, but perhaps none more significant than the start of the station itself - Radio FM + was the first private commercial radio to begin broadcasting in Bulgaria in October,1992.
Radio FM+ is a full-service, mainstream "Euro AC" (adult contemporary) network of nine stations operated from a central studio in Sofia. Radio FM+ targets listeners in the 25-45 age group with an international music mix of hits from the 80s and 90s, popular Bulgarian music and contemporary favorites. Presented by engaging, intelligent and entertaining on-air personalities. FM+'s music is complemented by an impressive news and service commitment on both the national and local level.
This strategy gives the advertiser consistent access to the most desirable demographic in Bulgaria. Radio FM+ reaches well over one million people on a weekly basis. Radio FM+ has been market leader in Sofia for over 8 years, virtually the entire time it has been on the air.
In addition to its commercial success, Radio FM+ has a strong sense of service to the community. An original campaign built around the theme "Don't Drink and Drive!" was so successful that the station was nominated twice for an international broadcasting excellence award by the National Association of Broadcasters for extraordinary service to the community.
Radio FM+ is also the only Bulgarian electronic media company to be a member of the Bulgarian Business Leaders' Forum, a group affiliated with the Prince of Wales' International Business Leaders Forum, representing high standards of business ethics worldwide.

15 Good Things
For Radio FM's 16th anniversary, we started a community campaign titled "15 Good Things", which goal was to provide beneficial actions for our people and our country. A few examples of 15 Good Things:
- Access ramps have been placed and reconstructed in a school for children with disabilities in Sofia.
- Helping a listener, Angela, suffering from cerebral paralysis to find a donator helping pay her monthly internet bills, for internet remains her only connection to the world.
- A big clock will be built in Stara Zagora at the place, popular as "The clock"
- Blood Drive for Bulgaria with the Radio FM+ presenters;
- Giving Christmas' decorations at 10 kindergartens before the holidays, locations were chosen by our listeners.
- National Campaign for restoring the forest destroyed by fire, under the aegis of US Ambassador in Bulgaria.
- Painting and decorating Children ward in Varna Cancer Hospital
And we promise to keep the good things going on...
Kill the Speed...
The symbol for the Radio FM+ campaign "Kill the Speed, Save a Child!" is already listed as new road sign in the Traffic code.
Its goal is to worn the drivers to lower the speed and protect children's life, especially at places where children suddenly could cross the street - near schools, kindergartens etc
This is the next recognition for the significance of one of the most successful and high-priority campaigns of Radio FM+. The campaign has won a row of prestige prizes - Best Community campaign of the "Silver Wave" festival in Albena, 2005; Media PR Campaign of Bulgarian Marketing Association, 2004; diploma for "Exceptional contribution to community service and radio-industry development in Bulgaria" from NAB annual award ceremony; award for socially responsible business from the Annual Award ceremony of Bulgarian Forum of Business Leaders and the International Forum of Business Leaders of HRH Price of Wales.
The initiative starts in April 2004 with the message "Not a single saved second on a road costs a child's life!" The main mission is to draw the community attention to the great number of car-crash accidents that take children victims and to make whatever is possible to protect their life. Different events were organized - making and installing special stickers and road signs with an inscription "Kill the Speed, Save a Child!" on the back side of autobuses, tramways and trolleybuses in Sofia and at some of the busiest crossroads.
Up to this moment the campaign has effected into putting 40 road signs, installing cross rubber humps around 15 schools and sticking over 1200 stickers on the vehicles from the Sofia city's transportation.
Don't Drink And Drive!
In the beginning of May 2008, Radio FM+ begins national community campaign without precedent by its dimensions and character. However it is already known from the eight previous years as "Don't drink and drive!" It will continue to the middle of June.
As the name of the campaign itself suggests it is targeted to those who neglect the voice of common sense and even low and drive after drinking.
In our National campaign we are not alone. With the assistance of the biggest International Radio Association - NAB (National Association of Broadcasters), we drew some of the music idols of the last twenty years. Among them there are some world celebrities as: Gwen Stefany, Elton John, Rod Steward, R.E.M., Coolio, John Secada, "Hootie & The Blowfish", who will sound every day on air of Radio FM+. For gathering this unique group we received also the help of the American social organization RADD (Recording artists, actors and athletes againtst drink driving), that unify artists, musicians and sportsmen, enemies of the drinking-driven bravado on the roads.
We owe also special thanks to "our guys" in the team - B.T.R., D2, Akaga, Maria Ilieva, "Shturtzite", Wickeda, the eternal FSB, Ivan and Andrey from "Music Idol", Zueka from "Masters of the Air" and many others.
During few weeks all of them will appeal on-air from Radio FM+ not to drive after drinking, to take the keys from your friends if they have the desire to drive after hours of "having fun".
"Music is alive, stay alive yourself!" calls one of the world celebrities on air of the first private radio station in Bulgaria.
Summer of Stars
Summer of Stars - unique summer entertainment on air in Bulgaria
The 15 best, legendary singers and groups for the last 20 years are our guests on air.
Every day we announce "Star of the day" - concrete artist who presents themselves with few songs.
In summer 2006 couple of our listeners was at the live show of George Michael in Barcelona.
In summer 2007 couple of our listeners was at the live show of Rolling Stones in Budapest.
This year the big award in the Summer of Stars is travel to London for the music event of the year - 90 years Nelson Mandela. Concert in Hyde Park, featuring: U2, Paul McCartney, Spice Girls, Queen, Robbie Williams and 30 stars more!
Big-money game
This is the most successful radio- game on air in Bulgaria that every year gives real money at the listeners.
Every hour in December we announce on air the size of the "thirteenth salary" and the presenters start to dial random telephone numbers. If the dialed person could tell the sum announced, they win their "thirteenth salary"
Face Control
At the height of the spring, Radio FM+ started looking for the real most beautiful Bulgarian woman. There were no limits for participation: no matter of years, kilos, colour or location, every lady had the chance to participate and to become the most famous Bulgarian face.
From beginning of April 2008 on air and on internet address www.fmplus.net the music radio calls all the men who feel proud of their wives, girl-friends, lovers, sisters or mothers, to send their picture to the radio's email.
During that spring month Nadejda Radeva, host of "Chocolate" show interviewed the candidates and their partners. Along with that on the web site of the radio the listeners voted for the most beautiful lady.
Thus in beginning of May one of ladies received the title "The Face of Radio FM+". The most important thing - her face will be posted on billboards and beautify the biggest cities of Bulgaria!
6 - 10 - Caffeine - the morning show with Tony and Sasho'Caffeine' - Radio FM+ morning show, the only male duet in Bulgarian air! The presenters - Tony and Sasho are amusing, ironic, inimitable, earthly, rake, gallant and intelligent. 'Caffeine' - every work day from 6.00am to 10.00am on Radio FM+! 'Caffeine' - on 1 February 2008 they set up a record making a unique 13-hour radio show. |
