Letter from the Chairman

Welcome to the new Emmis International web site. Emmis International is a wholly owned subsidiary of Emmis Communications, one of the ten largest radio groups in the United States. We launched our International division over ten years ago in order to actively participate in the rapid change and globalization of media throughout the world.

The collapse of Communism along with the emergence of free markets and independent commercial radio enticed Emmis - known for its entrepreneurial spirit - to take what we had learned over many decades of commercial radio in the US and translate those lessons into new markets beyond our borders.

By any measure, our experiment has been a great success! Our stations in Hungary, Slovakia and Bulgaria are performing at the highest levels in their local markets. We have found that by working with good local partners and local employees, 1+1 = more than 2. By taking the tried and true approaches of Emmis and marrying them with the expertise and knowledge of our local team, we create a product for our consumers far better than either of us could do on our own.

Under the leadership of Paul Fiddick, Emmis International president, we recruit, hire and train the best local managers and talent in the market. We do not export our programming or our people. Our stations are truly local. And in true Emmis tradition, we invest in and consider our employees our most valuable assets, and we are actively engaged in being good corporate citizens and serving our communities, both on the air and off.
